Most Bosch dryer faults in Toronto come down to a handful of parts — and the majority are worth repairing rather than replacing an appliance that typically lasts 10–13 years. Anthony is a Red Seal certified technician who carries the common dryer parts on the van, so most jobs in Toronto are diagnosed and fixed in a single visit.

Bosch dryer drum not spinning in Toronto — what we check

  • Identify the platform before you touch a belt - "not spinning" splits three ways on a Bosch. On the older NORTH-AMERICAN Nexxt/Axxis vented machines (WTMC / WTVC6530UC) it is a real drum-drive-belt job: the drum free-wheels by hand because the multi-rib belt has snapped or jumped. That belt is the 00491679 (AP3679616 / PS8722577, 4PH2142 4-rib spec; often paired with the companion 00491678 on the same drive path). On the 24" condensation/heat-pump machines (WTG86 / WTW87 / WQB245) the belt is a different family and the drive layout is different, so the same complaint is a different repair.
  • Belt confirmed broken is only half the diagnosis - on the Nexxt platform a belt almost never breaks without a seized tensioner behind it. The idler/tensioner pulley & wheel assembly is the 00491608; if it has stopped spinning freely on its shaft the belt was sawing against a locked wheel, so we replace the 00491679 belt AND the 00491608 idler as a set. Fitting a fresh belt over a frozen idler just cooks the new belt in weeks - that is the classic Bosch repeat call.
  • Drum that turns but is heavy/stiff to spin by hand points at the drum support rollers, not the belt. The Bosch drum support roller wheel is the 00422200 (AP3684358) - sold individually but always replaced in pairs because a worn roller drags the drum, overloads the drive motor and can throw the belt. On a Nexxt machine a grind-then-stall sequence is usually rollers loading the motor until it gives up rather than a primary motor fault.
  • Drum free-wheels easily AND the belt is intact = look upstream at the drive motor. On the Nexxt 300/500 vented machines the drive motor (with the blower fan integrated on the same shaft) is the 00436441; a motor with worn bearings or an open winding hums or trips thermal and the drum sits dead. Because the blower lives on the same motor shaft, a true motor failure usually also kills airflow - so a "won't spin AND won't dry" pair on a WTMC points hard at 00436441 rather than two separate faults.
  • No-spin that is really a no-START is the door switch / interlock. If the timer/display lights but nothing tumbles and you hear no click when the door shuts, the door interlock has lost continuity - the control will not energise the motor with the door reading open. The Bosch door-system interlock sits at the 12-o'clock catch and needs the top/control panel off to reach; we meter it for continuity before ordering, and a quick vacuum of the contact pocket sometimes restores it without a part.
  • On the condensation WTG86 platform, a "drum spins but clothes never dry / sounds like it labours" call is frequently the BLOWER belt 00604866 stalling the recycled-heat loop, NOT the drum drive belt - the 00604866 turns the blower wheel on a separate path. It is a frequent mis-order because owners describe it as "not turning right." We confirm by serial which belt is at fault; the condensation drum-drive belt itself is the 00657917 (8PH1965 / 8-rib profile), a different number from the Nexxt 00491679.
  • Heat-pump WTW87 (WTW87NH1UC, 500 Series) / WQB245 (WQB245AXUC, 800 Series) no-tumble is the honest specialist case. These sealed 24" machines do not expose a field-serviceable drum-drive belt through the normal distributor channel the way the Nexxt does; a genuine drive/no-rotate fault on the heat-pump platform is a teardown-or-factory decision, so we say so up front rather than sell a belt that does not service that machine. We always rule out a foreign object jammed at the drum lip and an over-loaded drum first - both read as "won't spin" and cost nothing to clear.

Bosch drum not spinning in Toronto — the local specifics

  • The recurring Toronto pattern on Bosch not-spinning is the Nexxt/Axxis vented machine (WTMC / WTVC) where the 00491679 drum-drive belt has failed because the 00491608 idler seized behind it - so the calls that come in as "belt broke again" are almost always belt-plus-idler we should have done as a set the first time. On the condo 24" condensation/heat-pump side, the more common reality is a no-START masquerading as no-spin (door interlock or an over-loaded/jammed drum) rather than a true drive failure - which is why we diagnose by hand-spin and door-click before ordering any drive part.
  • We roll to Toronto Bosch not-spinning calls carrying the Nexxt drive-wear kit - 00491679 drum-drive belt, 00491608 idler/tensioner pulley & wheel, and a pair of 00422200 drum support rollers - so a confirmed belt/idler/roller fault is one trip. The 00436441 drive motor and the 00657917 condensation drum-drive belt we pre-order against the serial rather than carry blind, and on heat-pump WTW87/WQB245 we bring the diagnostic tools, not a belt, because that platform is a teardown/factory call.
