Why won't my dishwasher dry the dishes?
Most common cause on a Samsung dishwasher in Toronto: empty rinse-aid reservoir (rinse aid is what sheets water off so it evaporates). A typical repair runs $180–$360 all-in, including the $149.95 diagnostic, credited 100% toward your repair. Purely a convenience issue; no safety or food-spoilage risk. Book at convenience

Most Samsung dishwasher faults in Toronto come down to a handful of parts — and the majority are worth repairing rather than replacing an appliance that typically lasts 9–12 years. Anthony is a Red Seal certified technician who carries the common dishwasher parts on the van, so most jobs in Toronto are diagnosed and fixed in a single visit.

Samsung dishwasher not drying in Toronto — what we check
- HE is the heater-side fault behind a true Samsung not-drying call, and it splits two ways. On the budget exposed-element tubs (DW80N3030, DW80M2020, DW80R2031, DW80CG4021/4051) the heating element DD81-02148A heats the final rinse and assists the dry; when it opens, the rinse never gets hot enough to flash off, dishes stay soaked, and the heater code latches. Samsung's HE logic posts when the water temperature fails to climb enough in the first ~10 minutes after the heater is energized (the heater isn't heating). We ohm the element for continuity before condemning it -- an open element confirms the part, a good element sends us to the relay/board side, never a guess off the code alone.
- HE1 is the over-temperature twin of HE and gets mis-blamed on the element constantly. Samsung flags HE1 on the temperature side: the controller posts it when the thermistor reads too hot -- roughly 176 F (80 C) or above. The first suspect is the thermistor itself: the DD81-02068A (the 5VDC Samsung dishwasher thermistor, AP6244318) or, on many newer DW80N/UDT-built tubs, the DD81-02152A (AP6244337). These are two separate, currently-stocked Samsung thermistors used across overlapping DW80N ranges -- we do NOT treat one as a drop-in supersession of the other; we confirm the correct thermistor by the unit's exact model/service number, then meter it against spec before touching anything heavier.
- When HE1 is showing but the tub water actually IS at temperature, the fault is not the sensor -- the heater relay on the main PBA is stuck closed, so the board can't trust its own heat circuit. Samsung's published path for a hot-tub HE1 is to replace the main power board assembly, not the thermistor or element. We confirm real water temperature at the door first so we never sell a board on a unit that just needs a DD81-02068A thermistor.
- The single most common Samsung 'not-drying' is not a fault at all: these are condensation-dry machines and rinse aid is a required component, not optional. Samsung's drying relies on hot dishes shedding water that condenses on the cooler stainless tub wall and drains -- with an empty or turned-down rinse-aid dispenser, water beads and clings and glassware comes out spotted and wet even with a perfect heater. We fill and set the dispenser and run a hot cycle before any parts conversation; on a working unit that is the whole fix.
- Wet plastics with dry ceramics and glass is physics on Samsung's condensation system, not a breakdown. Plastics hold no heat, so they cool before condensation can pull moisture off them, and many Samsung tubs have NO vent fan -- only the AutoRelease models actively vent. We set expectations, recommend Sanitize/Heavy (which sends the load into the dry hotter) and cracking the door within an hour of cycle end, rather than condemning a heater the machine does not have a problem with.
- On AutoRelease Dry models (DW80R5060/5061 and similar) the dry is mechanical: in the last 5-15 minutes the door is supposed to auto-open once the tub falls below about 122 F, and an internal fan runs to vent steam and protect the counter. If the auto-open linkage or the door-latch switch DD81-01629A fails -- or the owner forces the door early -- the humid air stays trapped and re-condenses on the load. We confirm the door actually releases at cycle end before chasing an HE/heater path on these units.
- A heater that meters fine but still won't heat points at the element's in-line thermal protection on the assemblies that carry it. We check the thermal fuse / high-limit for continuity: a blown one blocks voltage to the DD81-02148A element so the rinse stays cold and HE can post even though the element itself is good. These budget-tub protectors are typically non-resettable thermal fuses, so if it reads open we replace it AND find why it tripped -- a low-fill or a stuck thermostat -- because dropping in a new fuse without fixing the cause just trips the new one too.
Samsung not drying in Toronto — the local specifics
- The recurring Toronto pattern on Samsung not-drying is that most calls are condensation-dry expectation, not hardware: empty or low rinse-aid dispensers, wet-plastics-by-design, and owners who close an AutoRelease door early or never crack the door at cycle end. The genuine hardware share skews to HE1 thermistor (DD81-02068A or DD81-02152A) drift and, on the budget DW80N/DW80M/DW80R exposed-element tubs, an open DD81-02148A element -- with the occasional stuck-relay main board on a unit whose tub water is provably hot.
- We roll to a Samsung not-drying call carrying the DD81-02148A heating element and the DD81-02068A / DD81-02152A thermistors, a DD81-01629A door-latch switch for the AutoRelease models, rinse aid to top and demonstrate the dispenser, and a meter to ohm the element and thermistor on the spot. Main power board assemblies we confirm-then-order rather than carry, so we don't quote a board before proving the tub actually reaches temperature.
