Water dispenser not working: The door dispenser gives no water (or only a slow trickle), while ice may or may not still work.

Likely causes
- Frozen water line in the door or freezer (Most common)
- Clogged or overdue water filter (Common)
- Failed water-inlet valve or dispenser switch/actuator (Occasional)
- Low household water pressure or a kinked supply line (Occasional)
How we diagnose it — in order
- Confirm the water supply first: verify the saddle valve / shut-off behind or under the fridge is fully open and the supply line isn't kinked or pinched, then check household pressure is at least ~20 psi (30 psi is typical) since the inlet valve won't move water below that. If supply and pressure are good, move on.
- Rule out the water filter: pull the filter and install the bypass plug (or a known-good new filter). If water now flows normally, the filter was clogged. A partially clogged filter often still passes enough flow to make ice but starves the dispenser - this is the single most common cause when ice works but water doesn't.
- Check for a frozen water line in the door, the next most common cause: feel/inspect the dispenser tube and the reservoir. If the freezer is set colder than ~0 to 5 F, the 1/4-inch door line freezes. Thaw the line (warm air or flush warm water through it), raise the freezer setpoint toward 0-5 F, and retest. A door-tube heater kit is the permanent fix on prone models.
- Test the dispenser actuation circuit: with the fridge unplugged, pull the control-panel cover and check the dispenser lever microswitch for continuity with a multimeter (it should make/break cleanly when actuated). Confirm the switch sends power to the valve when the paddle is pressed; replace the switch or repair the harness/dispenser board if it's open or intermittent.
- Condemn the water inlet valve last: with power restored, confirm ~120V at the valve's dispenser solenoid while the paddle is held - if voltage is present and water still won't flow, the valve is bad (stuck solenoid or clogged inlet screen). Check/clean the inlet debris screen first; if the screen is clear and the valve has voltage but no flow, replace the water inlet valve.

- Check the supply line behind the fridge isn't kinked and the shut-off valve is open.
- Confirm the dispenser lock isn't switched on.
